You'll notice a yellow disclaimer message appear as a doorhanger: Google API Keys are missing. But the Chromium Project's API Keys page does a not-so-great of explaining how to do this, so I will. ![]() And then you Google a bit and follow all the instructions. Sometimes you need to use API Keys to use things like the Speech API. Instead, read this up-to-date guide (Jan 2023) written by Thank you to every contributor below who provided tips over the years on what should be a straightforward process: setting up Chromium for local development. ![]() The bluetooth chip should also be able to handle phone calls via bluetooth but when the phone calls you will need top accept the call from the iPhone and you will need to switch to bluetooth input if you want to hear the person on the other end.IMPORTANT: Ignore the out-of-date steps below for getting Chromium keys. Hence why I am exploring the Parrot system. This could be neat but I would not have the option to change music track on the iPhone from the radio unit, it will all need to be done from the iPhone. As it doesn't have an audio input it will be soldered in so that it replaces the AM audio (which I don't listen to anyway). I have the Mercedes single-CD radio ("MF2297" part number: A 1) and would like to keep this working and play radio and CD from it.Īs a foot note, I have also considered soldering in a bluetooth receiver into the unit. Where do you control the volume? I suspect the volume knob on the Mercedes stock radio unit cannot control the volume of the music coming from the Parrot system? However, how does it work when you say play music over bluetooth via the Parrot system. My car is equipped with the Bose system so I am wondering how this will work with the Parrot system? Looking at what the ISO connectors contain it looks like the Bose system takes an amplified speaker output from the stock radio unit (as opposed to a line signal), is this correct? The Parrot system also looks like it has an amplified input (again as opposed to a line out) so should be the same as the stock radio unit. I have a European SL500 1998 model year (built 1997 though) and would like to add bluetooth and uninstall the AEG factory phone which doesn't accept modern sim cards anyway. Here is the remote control mounted in the eyglass compartment Here is the display unit in the ashtray compartment with one of the IPOD menus Here is a picture of the cable for the IPOD, USB etc. Mic near the mic used for the old car phone. Mounted the display in the ashtray compartment, the cable for IPOD, USB, 3.5m in the console, and the remote control in the sunglass compartment. In my silverado the Parrot will turn on the stereo when a call comes in.Īnd the unit is plug and play, designed for std ISO input radios, so just unplugged the existing radio plugs, and plugged them into the Parrot and the Parrot connectors into the radio. The only drawback so far, is a mercedes unique issue, the parrot can't turn the radio on, it must be on for it to work. And when DW is along both our phones are connected to the car phone. ![]() Great control of the IPOD, either via Bluetooth or the IPOD interface. Well, doing some looking I found that the newest Parrot MKi9200 offers not only hands free phone for two phones simultaneously, but also bluetooth for audio along with a IPOD, USB, SD card and 3.5mm audio input jacks. In the past we had a Parrot unit, works fine, and in the E420 added the Becker mod to get external audio in. All our cars have bluetooth hands free phone interfaces I've installed, and wanted the same for the new SL. ![]()
